At the extraordinary general meeting on Monday 25 October 2021, Nordic Asia Investment Group has elected three new board members, one of whom will be chairman.
Michael Thurow has been elected as chairman of the board and replaces Gabriella Krook Eriksson, who transitions to being a board member. Furthermore, Jonas Olavi and Johan Roslund have been accepted as new board members. Yining Wang remains as a board member.
Michael Thurow was born in 1957 and is currently chairman of Aventura Group AB (publ), an e-commerce and brand accelerator with base and main operations in China listed on the Nasdaq OMX First North Growth Market and senior advisor at InterChina Partners, a leading company in M&A and strategy based in Shanghai. He has previously held a number of senior positions within SEB and CEO of Marsh AB Sweden, a global leader in insurance brokerage, over a 20-year period. Furthermore, Michael Thurow has lived and worked within the APAC region for more than 10 years, of which 5 years in China.
"It has been really exciting to have been able to follow Nordic Asia since the company was started and I am impressed by the management's ability to lead the company's rapid growth so far. Now the company is entering a new phase and I am very much looking forward to supporting the company's management and leading the board's work in the Nordic Asia Investment Group in the future". - Michael Thurow
Jonas Olavi was born in 1967 and has extensive experience from senior positions in the financial industry. He is currently Head of Allocation and Global Fund Manager at Alpcot and runs the popular podcast Börssnack. He has previously been Head of Allocation and manager at Alfred Berg and before that chief equity strategist at Nordea.
“I have been fascinated by China's growth for a long time. Despite some short-term concerns, the long-term growth trend is very strong. In the longer term, there is a good possibility that the domestic consumer market in China will overtake the US as the world's largest consumer market. This shift is happening right now, but unfortunately in the Nordics we have a very low allocation to this market and difficulties in deciphering and penetrating the companies remotely. Nordic Asia thus intends, via its investment company, to offer direct exposure to the growth companies in the Chinese market and decode the companies and the market via the management's expertise and local analysts on site. I am very much looking forward to being able to support the company's management via board work in the future and even more to penetrate this geographical market with great potential in the future". - Jonas Olavi
Johan Roslund was born in 1987 and has worked with investments in both listed and unlisted companies. Most recently as a fund manager at GP Bullhound and previously with fintech investments at NFT Ventures which included several board assignments. Johan has also been CFO for two companies as well as chairman of the board of Unga Aktiesparare and chairman of the committee that manages Aktiespararna's share portfolio.
"It feels exciting to strengthen the board via a combination of operational and administrative experience and competence that Michael, Jonas and Johan contribute. Their experience and network will complement the existing board well and support the company's management to drive Nordic Asia forward.” - Yining Wang, CEO
